Is anybody able to confirm if "retenciones" should be "tax deductions" or "withholding" for a UK audience?

Thanks very much in advance.

"La certificación, además de poner en su conocimiento los importes integros de las prestaciones puestas al cobro en el año 2016, le proporciona una serie de datos que le serán necesarios cuando cumplimente su declaración del impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas, en caso de estar obligado a presentarla."

"La certificación le puede ser de utilidad para justificar las retenciones efectuadas sobre sus prestaciones en el caso de que le fueran solicitadas."

taxes on benefits withheld
Explanation:
"retenciones efectuadas" is another variant of the tradition "retenciones praticadas" found in Spanish tax legislation text. Rebecca Jower lists these EN synonyms in her lexicon for retenciones: Withholding taxes; taxes withheld; amounts withheld at source, which I know are used in British texts, but of course the UK jurisdictions likely have some very regionally used one.

"prestaciones" can mean a boat load of things (performance, obligations, [SS/Contributory/etc.] benefits, etc.), so further context could help.

Many thanks, Seth. My client requested that I use the term "deduction" rather than "withholdings" in the end.

retenciones efectuadas sobre sus prestaciones
withholdings made out of benefits (emoluments) paid

Explanation:
Seems from the Translators Cafe posts that there is some confusion over the right preposition usable for sobre (s) cf. '..sur les prestations' in FRE. It would be deductions from and not of in BrE.

Also depends on how you are translatimg the weasel word of 'prestaciones' that, in a corporate context, means 'ancillary obligations' according to an Irish colleague of mine.

neutral  Adrian MM.: Hi, Seth. Your answer implies a US scenario of a closed corporation or a UK close company, namely tax on 'concealed distributions' that - like the benefits in your word order - are withheld. e.g. by the hoarding family members of the co.
