Spanish term or phrase: contratista y D.O.

En un contrato de construcción, que al parecer es de Argentina, se emplea varias veces las siglas "D.O.": por ej.,

"Será obligación también del Contratista pedir cada vez que corresponda, la verificación por la D.O de la colocación exacta de las carpinterías y de la terminación del montaje."

Al parecer "D.O." es quizás la parte que encarga los trabajos, la contraparte del contratista.

También parece que "D.O." se emplea más en Argentina y los países que la rodean.

Pero qué representan las siglas "D.O."?

Explanation:
I believe D.O. here refers to “Dirección de Obra”. In Spain they often use “Dirección Facultativa” but I believe they refer to the same thing.

It could either refer to one person specifically (the Construction Manager), and I have also seen the term “Works Director” particularly for public works. Or it could refer to the site management team/department overall, when referring the this function in more general terms.
