latency points / points of latency Explanation: "Quickly identify performance bottlenecks and avoid backlogs / Investigate and pinpoint latency points across systems, messages & order types// Latency Signals: internal, point to point and roundtrip latencies. / Identify server memory usage/workload patterns per daily/weekly/monthly basis " -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 47 mins (2015-01-03 18:01:12 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- To me lagging is something different and I wouldn't expect it in a Testing context. Have you some references for where it's being used? |

Latency spike Explanation: I've never heard of latency points, but spike is a pretty common term when speaking about latency and lag issues, mostly on videogames but I've seen the term used in other software-related contexts. Lee todo en: Definición de latencia - Qué es, Significado y Concepto http://definicion.de/latencia/#ixzz3NmQa10Mv -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 mins (2015-01-03 17:34:05 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Definition of: latency (IT) (1) Essentially any delay or lapse in time. In general, it is the time between initiating a request in the computer and receiving the answer. Data latency may refer to the time between a query and the results arriving at the screen or the time between initiating a transaction that modifies one or more databases and its completion. Disk latency is the time it takes for the selected sector to be positioned under the read/write head. Channel latency is the time it takes for a computer channel to become unoccupied in order to transfer data. Network latency is the delay introduced when a packet is momentarily stored, analyzed and then forwarded. (2) With malicious software, latency is the period between infection and the first obvious damage to the host system. Many viruses or logic bombs written by amateurs have a short latency and are therefore relatively easy to detect; however, more vicious malware can lie dormant or replicate to many other hosts and then wreak havoc unexpectedly. http://www.pcmag.com/encyclopedia/term/45944/latency -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2015-01-03 20:15:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- lag is a noticeable delay between the action of the user and the reaction of the server. Although lag may be caused by high latency, it may also occur due to insufficient processing power in the client and/or server. Lagging is mostly used in online gaming ... I would use latency or time delay -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2015-01-03 20:19:17 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- (also "latencia" and also "cuello de botella" are included into "lagging") |
