Spanish term or phrase: no pueden obedecer a ***criterios miméticos o de automatismo***
Hello, I am translating a judgment and I came across the following sentence:

"indemnización por clientela y aplicación analógica del art. 28 de la Ley del Contrato de Agencia: ***no pueden obedecer a criterios miméticos o de automatismo***"

I know what is means, i.e. such compensation and the enforcement of Article 28 cannot be granted automatically or "imitatively", however "imitatively" doesn't sound right or easily understandable in English. Do you have a better option to suggest? Thanks!

cannot be based on principles of mirror-imaging (imitation) or automatic analogy
Explanation:
I mis-spelled principles the first time round. So here is a re-run.

indemnización por clientela y aplicación analógica > goodwill (compensation) payment and analogous application of (not enforcement, rather the opposite of 'disapplying' a rule or time limit) ...
Analogous application makes the repetition of analogous problematical.

Better avoid the term of 'automatism' that is a defenc/se in English criminal law to certain offences e.g. a sleepwalker causing criminal damage, injuring or strangling someone.

NB the passage quotef does not refer to the wording of Arg. etc. Agency Contract Legislation, but how it is applied.

  -> Thanks and gracias.

neutral  AllegroTrans: Could be right but since it's from a judgment, the actual subject matter could be almost anything; I would prefer to see more context as we don't know who the "clientele" are and what they are being paid or compensated for

  -> Clientèle usually means a client-based goodwill built up by an agent (translator!) who then gets sacked. marquezyabogados.es/4543/indemnizacion-clientela Otherwise, judges (I know) from civil-law countries - strictly codifying scenarios - dislike analogy.
