Thank you for your insights Patinba. Another word that comes to mind is to "journalize" which is the first step toward creating the general ledger. However, the very first step is to create a source document based on the invoice and that entails assigning it a number prior to journalizing. I think the word "file" is like you say more aligned with the legal sense of the word. During my COVID downtime I have been studying accounting online and am happy to share my learnings as appropriate!

Meridy is right that "radicar" in an accounting sense is quite similar to "post" to an account. The West definition I think refers to a different sort of "file," as in for example "radicar una denuncia" which means to lodge or file a complaint.

Hi Manuel, yes that is certainly a possibility as after a purchase invoice is received the standard procedure is to date It and assign a purchase invoice number which is different from the invoice number assigned by the vendor.

I think this could be a reference to "posting" the details of a purchasing transaction. María Moliner's Diccionario de Uso del Español defines radicarse as "establecerse con fijeza en un sitio." Of course the Dictionary gathers definitions prevalent in Spain and is not necessarily pertinent to Colombia.Note that West's Law and Business Dictionary defines radical as "to file," a usage prevalent in Puerto Rico.
