I don't think "EN/UK: Spanish Uniform Personal and Corporate Tax as well as VAT ID S-1111111-J" should be used. That's very longwinded and odd.

If there has to be an either-or option, I would translate it as TIN/VAT ID: ESX1234567X.

By the way, for Spanish VAT numbers, see the below info:

"For companies it's either 'ES'+letter+8 digits or 'ES'+letter+7 digits+letter. Where the first letter defines the type of company and the following first 2 digits define the province where the company was registered. The last character is a control digit.
For individual people / freelancers, its either 'ES'+8 digits+letter (for Spaniards) or 'ES'+letter+7 digits+letter (for foreigners). e.g. ESX9999999R"

I use VAT ID when the tax is specified as VAT in the text. Otherwise, I use TIN.

Both individuals and companies can have VAT identification numbers. I would use one term consistently in your translation, i.e., "VAT ID" or "tax identification number" for each one. There is no need to confuse matters by translating CIF and NIF separately because "CIF" doesn't exist anymore, and it refers to the same thing as "NIF."

Explanation:
Utiliza C.I.F. (Código de Identificación Fiscal) si el cliente es una empresa.

En el caso de que sea una persona particular, utiliza NIF (Número de Identificación Fiscal).

En España, no se suele hablar del Nº de IVA, a menos que sea en una transacción Europea para países donde no existe ni el CIF ni el NIF (Reino Unidad, por ejemplo).

I am really just asking because it is not customary at all in the UK to identify entrepreneurs or companies in legal contexts like contracts by their VAT ID alone so maybe slightly wordier phrasing is actually needed here?
