Spanish term or phrase: agotada (in this content)
I am translating a Data Sheet and this relates to vanilla:

No debe estar alterada, mal conservada, agotada ni contener bálsamo de Tolu o del Perú, ácido benzoico, vainilla artificial, azúcar, ni sustancias extrañas.

I am wondering if agotada means "flavorless" or "flat".

This translation is for the USA.

Thank you for your help!

neutral  JohnMcDove: The idea of "flavourless" or "flat", as noted by Victoria is what is conveyed as "spent". See the link by Neilmac! ;-))

agree  neilmac: Y discrepo con el comentario de MarioMadrid arriba. It means it's lost its aroma/flavour. Not a sell-by/expiration date issue IMHO....

-> Thank you VERY much, Neilmac. Nothing like an actual authoritative link to confirm “basic truth”. (I’ll have to re-listen to the joke interlude, but the song is Masterful! ;-) (And very apropos!)
