Spanish term or phrase: \"Extrañador\"
El término aparece en el ensayo "Traducir al otro: Traducción, exotismo, poscolonialismo", escrito en español por Ovidi Carbonell i Cortés.

En este ensayo se emplea este término en contraposición a otro que sería "familiarizador". Cuando un elemento parece ser que pertenece a una variedad lingüística diferente, al hablante ese elemento le parecerá "extrañador".

Necesito que me ayudéis, por favor, a encontrar un equivalente en inglés.

Aunque el término aparece en más libros y ensayos que versan sobre lingüística, no encuentro quién acuñó el término y cuál es su equivalente en inglés.

Explanation:
Slightly foreign.
Some terms (not to mention accents) used by Northern Catalan speakers would sound odd to a Valenciano and cause a feeling of "foreign-ness", prompting them to assume the speaker is a Barcelona supporter, for example.
