Spanish term or phrase: dar y recibir en hipoteca
He leído en un foro de Proz sobre el significado de "recibir en prenda o hipoteca".
Entiendo que "recibir algo (bienes raíces, por ejemplo) en hipoteca/ prenda" es la acción de la parte que necesita dinero.

Y ahora tengo un texto de estatuto de una empresa chilena como el siguiente, en el que aparece "dar y recibir bienes raíces en hipoteca".

Entiendo que aquí hay que poner traducción en inglés, pero también se agradece una explicación. Tengo "Dar y recibir en prenda de cualquier naturaleza toda clase de bienes muebles" en otro apartado del mismo estatuto. Será más o menos la misma idea en uso de "dar y recibir", verdad?

recibir en prenda > be pledged or *charged* > act as pledgee or *chargee*.

Dar algo en hipoteca: borrow by the borrower giving a mortgage charge over his or her property vs. recibir en hipoteca, so a mortgage lender lends money by being mortgaged, so given a mortgage of a property - or company Shares, as per the textbook definition. The UK borrower's comment of 'the bank or Building Society gave me a mortgage' is a misnomer cf. Phil G's answer that might be construed the othrr way round in the UK. It is the borrower who gives the mortgage over his or her land, whilst the Bank etc. grants a *mortgage* loan. I'm unsure how the security interest works in Japan, but my City of London Pedigree tells me the financial arrangement, plus mortgage interest, is the same, whereas a Sharia - Muslim law interest-free mortgage loan is not.

OK - for mortgagor, also read mortgage borrower (debtor) and for mortgagee read mortgage lender (creditor).

The 'mortgage completion' - like completion of a conveyance of land - is the sign-off of the mortgage *loan*.

Asker: Thank you for your proposal. As I wrote to Adrian MM., my point was to know the difference between "recibir en hipoteca", "dar en hipoteca" and "dar y recibir en hipoteca". grant = dar, aceptar. Then, the action "grant mortgage" is the one of the part of bank and financial institution, while "obtain mortgage" is the action of the debtor? It would be much appreciated if you could follow this point.
