A recent and interesting study suggests that people donate more to charity to account for their conscience after making a morally bad choice. The term appears in the following context:

"Siendo D la donación y C la culpa. Gráficamente, la forma en la que decrece la necesidad de donación que se origina a partir de una culpa dada sería como la vemos en el Gráfico 1:"

For the moment I have gone as far as this:

"Where "D" is the donation and "C" the guilt. Graphically, the way in which the need to donate, that originates from a given guilt, decreases, would be as the one shown in Graph 1:"

Note: to translate "a sense of guilt" may be tempting but I am not sure it would correctly translate what is specifically meant by the term "una culpa dada".
