Spanish term or phrase: les haría retroceder como refutio de indigados
As in my previous question we are in the context of an estimation of Spain's next General Elections, following the irruption of group Podemos in the policital scene.

"Los grandes perjudicados serían Izquierda Unida y UPyD: por un lado la irrupción en la escena de Podemos les haría retroceder como refugio de indignados (bajan al 3,8% y 3,4% de los votos, respectivamente), por el otro el efecto distorsivo de la conversión en escaños les penalizaría todavía más. Ambas formaciones se quedarían con 2 diputados, un 0,6% de los escaños cada una."

This is my provisional interpretation:

"The big losers would be Izquierda Unida and UPyD: on the one hand, the irruption of Podemos in the Spanish political scene, would make them retreat as refuge of the outraged (going down to 3.8% and 3.4% of the vote, respectively), on the other the distorting effect of the coversion of votes into seats, would penalize them further. Both political forces would be left with only 2 deputies, 0.6% of the seats each one of them."

I don't know how you are translating "indignados", which may need defining for many readers.
"would undermine their importance as havens for the 'indignados' (voters “indignant” and disillusioned with the mainstream parties)...

For me, the main issue with translating this is how to approach "indignados" (con o sin mayúscula). El resto de la frase se puede poner de varias maneras.

OK, so "les haría retroceder " is actually "drive them back" but I think "mermar su importancia" sounds better, perhaps less emotive in English (e.g. undermine their significance/importance/position).
