Spanish term or phrase: descompensación intersticial
From a hospital admittance record in Spain:

Only three questionable hits on the Internet for "interstitial decompensation" makes me doubt that phrase.

Explanation:

agree  Leda Roche: interstitial signs of decompensation

-> I'd rather say radiologic signs of interstitial diffuse edema -although it is probably a bit too far from the original rendering. Anyhow, interstitial signs of decompensation due to... sounds like it might really work in this case. Thanks a lot Leda!

distension/deterioration of the interstitium

Explanation:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/...
Normally, the interstitium is not seen on radiographs. However, alterations in the amount of fluid entering the interstitium, impairment in the lymphatic clearing mechanism, or alterations in permeability of the capillary walls result in excessive fluid accumulation and distension of the interstitium, producing radiographic linear shadows. Moreover, the interstitium may become visible on the radiographs if it is distended by space-occupying lesions (e.g., blood, edema, pus, tumor) or thickened in response to such disorders as connective tissue disorders. Distension of the axial interstitium appears as peribronchial cuffing and perihilar haze; parenchymal interstitium relates a “ground glass” appearance, and the peripheral interstitium appears as thick pleura.

In medicine, decompensation is the functional deterioration of a structure or system that had been previously working with the help of allostatic compensation.Decompensation may occur due to fatigue, stress, illness, or old age. When a system is "compensated", it is able to function despite stressors or defects.
