Spanish term or phrase: Densidad aire
Hello,

On a medical report the phrase says:

Partes blandas con áreas hipodensas (densidad aire) de predominio en hemitórax izquierdo.

Is it as simple as "air density"? Im just not quite sure.

Many thanks!

English translation:air density
Explanation:
Por ejemplo,
...decreased density areas (air density)

Aunque seguro hay otras formas naturales de expresar la misma idea en inglés (ver enlaces abajo). No obstante, la densidad aire (air density) es una de las cuatro densidades básicas objetivables en una radiografía, por lo que la traducción más literal en este caso me parece la más natural y ajustada.

abnormal blackness (decreased density)

decreased density or lucencies

radiolucent black of air
Decreased density areas

Air density

you can see examples of the four basic densities, bone, soft tissue, fat, and air, which are visible on a conventional radiograph.

neutral  Neil Ashby: A bit cheeky me thinks, I did use both "density of air/air density" in my answer
