I am no expert either, but Robb Engineering dictionary gives "splice plate" as a translation of "brida" in addition to flange, so it might be appropriate.

Si buscas "brida" en el Diccionario Español de Ingeniería de la Real Academia de Ingeniería (España), casi todas las entradas indican que el equivalente inglés es "flange".

Asker: Buenos días Charles, Muchas gracias por la información. Pienso que en el texto original hay un problema ya que al buscar "brida", tal como tú lo indicas, el equivalente en inglés es "flange". Sin embargo, en el texto estos términos aparecen como distintos.

  -> Thanks, James! It looks right to me, but there is the problem Paula mentions about "flange" being used separately in her document, and I don't know how to resolve that.
agree  Eduardo Ramos: 95% of the times is flange... well, could be clamp or even bridle (but I don't believe the text is about horses...)
