is, today, what lies in store for the future Explanation: What if 'este hoy de nuestro futuro" should read "estÉ hoy de nuesto futuro" paraphrasing: This inner prison is, as things stand today (because there's no policy of social change that might lead to better alternatives), what awaits us in the future. |

is the today of our future Explanation: The Spanish is incomplete; a verb is lacking. I'm wondering if "este" shouldn't have had an accent (my computer won't let me write it here). If you interpret "este" as 'is', then the meaning becomes quite clear and simple. |

the first day of our future Explanation: decided to take a stab at this my reading taking "en los tuvimos" as finding these insights ourselves (in the personal changes for "los"), not someone telling us... ...there will be no social changes, for with old age there are only personal intimate ones wherein those of us who wish to live in a different way, may have the good fortune (or the good insight) to find that the prison that awaits us is the first day of our future. in other words, the present, or today, can be the start of a new life for those who wish to make changes or live in a different way |
