(light-)sensitive surface Explanation: The thing a digital sensor and conventional (jejeje: 'old-fashioned') film have in common is a precisely-positioned 'surface' onto which the image is focused. 'soporte' is not strictly correct in Spanish for either film (where the imaged is focused on the emulsion, not on the transparent film which supports the emulsion) or in digital cameras (where the 'soporte' is a chip substrate, not the light-sensitive cells in the image plane that measure the light intensity at each pixel). But if the ST is for a general readership, those niceties can conveniently be ignored... |
