Spanish term or phrase: habitacion
1600, durante el siglo XVII, la cámara que hasta ese momento era una habitación como tal se transforma en un instrumento portátil de madera. Johann Zahn transformó esa caja en un aparato parecido al usado en los principios de la fotografía.

...it was a room just as it becomes a portable wooden instrument?

habitacion como tal se transforma just mades no sense to me especially with the shift to present tense. Can anyone translate those five words for me?

Thanks a lot.
