Spanish term or phrase: Método del abatimiento
A technical drawing textbook for secondary school students gives this as a method for constructing drawings in one-point perspective.

"Al método perspectivo utilizado para determinar la perspectiva cónica de la figura se le conoce como el método del abatimiento. Se le denomina de esta manera porque se parte de la planta del sólido abatida sobre el plano del cuadro."

I have seen another KudoZ entry for 'método diédrico de abatimiento' as 'rabatment' but the explanations I've read of rabatment don't seem to fit in my case. Thanks in advance for any clarification or other suggestions.

Abatement method

Explanation:
abatement, decrease, diminution, reduction, step-down -

Abatement means reduction, but in photography, reduction means the process of reducing the optical density of a photographic image by removing part of the metallic silver (for black-and-white photographic materials); also, the selective partial bleaching of the blue, yellow, or purple hues (for monopack color film).

Asker: Thank you neilmac. This seems like a logical solution; however, I haven´t yet found any sources that use the term 'abatement method' te refer to perspective drawing.

Orthographic projection method

Explanation:
Not really sure if I've understood correctly, but anyway, orthographic projection is a way to show 3d on paper.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you katecastle. I believe orthographic projections involve several 'flat' drawings of different views of a 3D object (front, side, aerial), whereas my case is a drawing in persepctive with a single vanishing point. Thanks for contributing anyway.
