stories Explanation: They are referring to ¨wire stories¨, i.e., stories sent through the wire service. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 54 mins (2019-07-02 11:48:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "los que trabajamos en la calle sabemos que la única arma que tenemos cuando llegamos a un lugar es el cable de una agencia. Sin el respaldo de una agencia llegamos ciegos a la nota. Cerrando Télam no solamente dejan a gente sin trabajo, sino que dejan a periodistas ciegos y eso es una sociedad que no ve". https://somostelam.com/debate-periodistico/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 hrs (2019-07-03 07:47:50 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- To expand on my reply to John: "Cable" is also used in English with the same meaning: "As American diplomatic communications are laid bare by the WikiLeaks documents, behind the scenes Guardian journalists make every effort to remove information that may leave anyone mentioned in the cables vulnerable" https://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2010/dec/07/us-embas... However, it is not as common as in Spanish. So I believe the proposed term is better suited to the sentence in question. |
