There are 6 major methods by which sparkling wines are produced, each resulting in a different carbonation level and, ultimately, a different style of bubbly! http://winefolly.com/review/how-sparkling-wine-is-made/ |

pétillance Explanation: I think this is the appropriate wine term: a slight sparkle resulting from some carbon dioxide in the second fermentation, but not enough to make it a sparkling wine as such. "pétillance noun The quality in wine of being only slightly sparkling." https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/petillance That is what "punto" implies. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 41 mins (2017-03-28 16:00:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "Se trata en definitiva de un vino ligero, realzado por el finísimo punto de aguja característico de los Pescador." https://www.vinetur.com/2014060215647/blanc-pescador-verdejo... "Cavas del Ampurdán NV Blanc Pescador White (Spain) A Lambrusco-like petillant that's neutral and dry as a bone on the nose except for a pinch of green." http://www.winemag.com/buying-guide/cavas-ampurdan-nv-blanc-... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 55 mins (2017-03-28 16:14:03 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- And: http://www.diccionariodelvino.com/index.php/petillant/ Pearl wine (from German Perlwein?) seems to be used in America; you don't hear it much in the UK. I've always heard "pétillant" among wine people (or the very prosaic "semi-sparkling"). |

Reference: pearl wine Reference information: Aguja Spanish term used for the sensation of slight pinpricks on the palate produced by some wines that contain carbon dioxide bubbles. This carbonic gas left in the wine should be the result of the wine's own fermentation and should never be added manually. http://www.decanterwines.co.uk/page/spanishWineGlossary/ http://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish_to_english/cooking_culinar... |
