das ist kein krustentier sondern eine schildlaus, die auf den feigenkakti lebt und einen intensiv roten farbstoff (karmin) enthält, der früher zum färben von stoffen verwendet wurde, dann von synthetischen farbstoffen verdrängt wurde und sich heute nur noch in lippenstift, wangenrouge etc. findet. stammt aus süd- und mittelamerika, wurde auf den kanarischen inseln eingeführt.
