Ihre Struktur ist weder kristallin, wie bei den Plutoniten, noch porphyrisch, wie bei den Vulkaniten. Es handelt sich dabei um Gesteinsschmelzen, die auf ihrem Weg an die Erdoberfläche in Gesteinsfugen und -spalten kristallisiert sind.
