Buongiorno,
ricorro nuovamente al vostro aiuto per la traduzione del verbo "vistearlo". Premetto che sto lavorando con un testo di uno scrittore argentino e vi riporto la frase per offrirvi più contesto:" Empezamos a vistearlo al servo. A mirarlo obstinadamente, y el fulano terminó por aburrirse y se corrió del otro lado".
Il protagonista si sta rivolgendo al cameriere che considera invadente.
Cercando ho trovato che l'azione di vistear appartiene alla cultura gaucha, corrisponde a un gioco che si faceva con un bastone, se bambini, o un coltello, se adulti, simile allo scherma.
Non riesco a trovare l'equivalente in italiano. L'unica soluzione che mi è venuta è quella di sostituirlo con il verbo "sfidare" ma non mi convince.
Sono un po' ferma.

Vistear o visteo: estilo amistoso de esgrima gaucha, propio del campo argentino, consiste en dirimir amistosamente un pleito. En vez de que la definición fuera "a muerte" como en el caso de un duelo puñal o facón en mano, el juego consistía en esgrimir un palo tiznado que no es más que un trozo de madera a medio quemar y "pintar" el rostro o alguna parte vital del cuerpo del contrincante a fin de mostrar la supremacía de alguno de los contrincantes de la disputa. A esta acción a veces se la ha llamado "hechar una visteada" y su gerundio es vistiando.
