Swedish term or phrase: delserie
The aircraft in question are being delivered in stages. Each delivery is refered to as 'delserie 1, 2, 3 etc'. It is definitely not prototype as that appears elsewhere in the document and has other meaning. If anyone can help TODAY or TOMORROW I would be grateful.......cheers.

I began with this but then went with 'batch' in the end having found Gripen official documents on line. Thanks for the support, though.

stage

Explanation:
In this context I would use the word you used in your question: stage - given the explanation below it seems to be the most appropriate word, as it has nothing to do with the actual model of the plane. I googled and it seems to be used, at in this manner, fairly specifically with JAS. I considered "series" as an alternative, but that seems to imply that the planes in each series differ from each other, which isn't the case (or it's at least not as simple as that) here.

Versioner

agree  Helen Johnson: If it doesn't specify anything in particular about each 'delserie', nor should you perhaps - I'd go with this one.

  -> Thanks

agree  George Hopkins: No doubt here. On second thoughts though, if it's a question of one plane at a time it might be better to say sub-delivery.

  -> Thanks, George. In that case they could have chosen to say delleverance.
