hire

Explanation:
Context is an issue here. I've seen the Swe word used, or misused for cars/autos (I did a website about contruction equipment 'rental' and 'hire' recently) the UK uses both 'hire' and 'rental'. This was my first thought for context in reading the question, but you have not given any so this is a guess. Office premises and flats are 'rental'. Boats! are both!
I trust you found this one, http://g3.spraakdata.gu.se/saob/show.phtml?filenr=1/79/14.ht...

In the US its rent, rental, or leasing...
