bathetic Explanation: It's difficult to find a good adjective in English. It might be better to rephrase the sentence to say "... the pretentious twaddle of the content..." See also the link to "bathos" below -- I generally think of that as a combination of the sublime and the ridiculous. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day22 hrs (2009-10-30 18:31:51 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- purple prose would be another possibility.
