Search for Explanation: There's no question in my mind that "Sök rapporter i alla databaser" has to be translated as "search for reports in all databases." Swedish "söka" can mean "search" transitively, as in "search a database," or "seek" (="search for"). Think of the fact that English "We are seeking..." and "We are looking for..." mean the same thing, and you'll see why "for" needs to be added for some uses of "söka" in Swedish. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs (2011-11-15 18:58:00 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Actually, properly, "search a database" should be "sök i en databas" in Swedish. But you get my meaning. |
