agree  Deane Goltermann: 'Class of debt' is better here. I found this difference on the website Adrian referenced. Looked into the general Eng usage, and this is used more widely. 'class' works in this context, while 'tier' works for individual companies.

agree  Paul Lambert: Yes, both are fine but "Class of debt" is preferred these days, just like "people of colour" or "burgers of cheese", not to mention the "People's Front of Judaea" as opposed to the "Judean People's Front".
