timber grading/log sorting Explanation: A little hard to tell from your context, but they talk about 'grading' when it comes to lumber and 'sawn timber'. This generally refers to the what comes out. (Sidobräder = 'Sågat virke som tas ut ur stockens yttre del, utanför centrumutbytet, kallas också sidoutbyte. Sidobräder har en virkestjocklek mindre än 32 mm. But the only definition of your table I found (in the Swe reference) indicates this involves sorting the logs going into the mill. Theses logs are both sorted and graded. (At an onsite visit, I was shown logs in 54 separate classes in piles sorted by length, bottom and top diameter, and a few 'reject' classes (going to paper or burning) Roughly, sorting logs by quality is grading, sorting by log size is 'sorting', but ...very roughly, it seems...
