Swedish term or phrase: truck = forklift?
From a description of a protective sheet for cargo on ships/trucks/etc.:

"Efter lastning kan en truck eller bom användas för att lyfta upp duken över lasten [...]."

Is "forklift" an appropriate translation for "truck" here, or is the concept broader than this?

"forklift" seems to be a common meaning of Sw. "truck", but some of the images I've found for this word don't seem to be pictures of what I would call forklifts.

English translation:forklift
Explanation:
Most likely. The proper word for a forklift is "gaffeltruck" (i.e. fork-truck), but it most certainly is a forklift which is meant in the context, because I can't think of any other form of truck that's really used for lifting.
The generic meaning of "truck" is a short range transport vehicle of the type that is used within a plant or restricted area.
