Could anyone please confirm that this is the equivalent of 'time off in lieu' in English, where overtime has been worked and time off is given instead of extra payment? Otherwise, please advise if the arrangements are different in Sweden, as I'm not fully familiar with this.

Enligt 14 § arbetstidslagen skall arbetstagarna ha minst 36 timmars sammanhängande ledighet under varje period om sju dagar. Till veckovilan räknas inte beredskapstid. Veckovilan skall så långt möjligt förläggas till veckoslut.

Undantag från reglerna om veckovila får göras tillfälligt om det föranleds av något särskilt förhållande som arbetsgivaren inte har kunnat förutse.

I agree too - no wonder I wasn't sure of it - people in the UK are often expected to work every hour God sends! Roll on fuller implementation! :)
