Certain classes of property may not be distrained. This is the case of necessaries such as the following: • clothes and other items for the debtor’s personal use, to a reasonable value, • furniture, household appliances and other equipment necessary for a home and its maintenance. • tools and other equipment necessary for the debtor’s occupation or vocational training, • personal belongings, e.g. medals of honour and sporting trophies that have so great a personal value for the debtor that it would be unfair to distrain them. |
