two folds/ three sections 08:42 Jun 2, 2006
the best of both answers: 'the sheet of paper that i had folded twice'. or 'my twice folded piece of paper.' 'double folded paper sheet', though exactly literally correct, (i think it's correct, anyway) sounds awkward somehow. but it is techincally 'folded twice' ie, into three sections, and not 'folded in two', ie, into two sections. like, normally, when you fold an 8 1/2" by 11" piece of paper and put it into a standard business envelope, you fold it twice. the paper ends up in three sections. can we all agree on this? does anyone commonly call this tri-fold? even though it would technically be a misnomer, based on what i just wrote above?
