bottom scraper Explanation: Not my field either, but this (Danish) site (http://www.oresundsvand.dk/english/html/body_knahaken.html) uses this suggestion. But Daniel's site is a find! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 24 mins (2015-05-13 13:36:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- You might have to call this a 'Sampler' to distinguish from other bottom scrappers, as used for scraping the bottom of boats... seabed sampler Explanation: With apologies to Deane, I am poaching his note. This translation will avoid confusion with a boat's bottom scraper. "Seabed scraper" is an option. Looking through Google results, "sampler" seems more popular in UK and US sources (but scraper is also used), while "scraper" is in Scandinavian ones. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 hrs (2015-05-14 08:36:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Apologies to my Irish cousins, I should have included Irish sources in the above.
