Swedish term or phrase: lastbilcentral
Hello

I've looked on the Internet and these centres seem not only to deliver goods, but I think they may hire out lorries too (with or without a driver). A lot of them also offer vehicles other than lorries, stuff like pick ups, trailers, dumper trucks, bulldozers etc.

For all these reasons, I can't seem to find an English equivalent. "Vehicle centre" is more for selling cars etc. "car rental" falls far short of what this is in Swedish. "Heavy goods vehicles" doesn't cover some of the more specialized vehicles

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

haulage depot
Explanation:
Good explanation in Swedish here of what they do and how they came about: https://www.tematransport.se/lastbilscentralen-har-att-stann...

Seems to fit with the English expression - examples here: https://tinyurl.com/y9kwnw3g

Also, it is "lastbilscentral", with a joining "s".

How about "haulage and plant depot" - to retain the sense of "central".

heavy plant depot

Explanation:
As it's historical and isn't exactly what they do now, and as there also seems to be quite a variation in what a 'traditionell lastbilscenter' actually does, I think you'd get away with writing 'haulage depot' as Agneta suggests, or perhaps something more general like 'heavy plant depot' as I've suggested. That would cover pretty much everything, including vehicle hire, haulage services and so on.
