I thought that "document processing" might be OK, but here is the sentence for those wishing to make suggestions. "Document work" doesn't sound right in English .

Asker: Thanks Selcuk... I 'm not sure, because the person is saying that both --- doküman çalışması ile standart yazılımı --- could have been made to resemble the old system more. I'm not sure if "documentation effort" works for that.

Asker: Metin and Selcuk... Thanks for pointing out my mistake in how I interpreted ile...which seems obvious now that you mention it. Great help!

agree  Metin Demirel: @Harold, the preposition "ile" does not correspond to "and" in this case. It rather means "with the help of documentation, the standart software could..." It's not a "both...and..." structure.
