A similar idion seems to be used in English. For example, in the book 'Society' by David Faure, the following sentence appears:

“Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Wong Hing and others raise the flag of revolt at Wong Kong and Yam Lin in SW Kwang-tung. 18th July, 1907.”
