Bio
A few words about myself: I am a native of Szabadka, a town on the border between Serbia and Hungary, Romania and Croatia also being only a stone's throw away. At the time I was born, it belonged to Yugoslavia, a country that no longer exists. Resulting from its geographical position and its eventful history the population of Szabadka is extremely mixed, which made it easy for me to pick up the two main dialects and official languages of the one-time Yugoslavia: the Serbian and the Croatian, which are very closely related to each other, though with considerable differences in their strictly literary and journalistic usages. These two, during the two and a half decades I spent in my native country, including a thirteen months’ military service in the Yugoslav armed forces, have become something like a second mother language to me. Later I moved to Hungary, where, after a time, partly on the grounds of my Hungarian nationality, I became naturalized. I spent a couple of years in Sweden as well, and later on in England. Currently I am living and working in Paris, France. Wherever I happened to live for a longer period, without losing my time, I did my best to learn the local language. As to the rest of my language skills, they are principally the result of my extensive readings comprising classical works of literature and the world press. I have a technical qualification and a somewhat marginal interest in computer science, computer programming and web design being only powerful tools for me in the service of my linguistic pursuits. Computers are in fact a kind of relaxation for me, where, from time to time I escape from my readings, in the same way as a passionate mountaineer, who feels at his best among the snowy peaks, where the silence is deep and crisp the wind, at times might feel the urge to descend onto a wide plain where the walk is easy.

As a freelance linguist, I offer my assistance to you with any of the following:

• Translation of non-technical, but also, with certain limitations, of technical content texts in different language combinations
• Text analysis; analytical/informative translation of texts; subject sensitive, intelligent summarizing of lengthy documents/articles/books written in any of the languages listed below
• Media/press research in any of the languages listed below
• Proofreading of texts in different languages, especially of texts resulting from OCR (optical character recognition) process
• Complete digitalizing of texts/books written in different languages, from scanning to the final proofreading
• Teaching of Hungarian, my mother language, to individuals or to a group audience, on all levels, in the form of a regular language course or as a purely conversational course
