English to Chinese: Workshop - Agile Object Oriented Modeling using UML2
Source text - English This is a popular workshop put on by Modelsoft Consulting Corp. given by Dr. Michael Blaha. Dr. Blaha is a world-renowned industry expert in modeling and was a co-founder of OMT which was a precursor to UML. Dr Blaha’s latest book has just been published, Object-Oriented Modeling and Design with UML, Second Edition, which is already quickly gaining popularity in many universities around the world.
Even though there are many new tools and approaches to developing software, we don’t seem to be getting much better at it. Dr Blaha’s paper in the February issue of IEEE Computer magazine entitled “A Copper Bullet for Improving Software Quality” quantifies this statement. After reverse-engineering around 50 databases, both commercially developed and in-house developed, there are still many that don’t “pass”. Remember, “Any system design will work, given enough time and resources”. Our objective however, is to be able to deliver systems that work, with a reasonable cost for development and just as important, a reasonable cost for the ongoing life of the product.
