English to Czech: Mokey and the Rivermonster General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Mokey drank so much water he felt as if his belly would pop.
It usually made a funny chuggling sound as he waddled back across the meadow, but today was different.
Instead of chuggling away from the river, he lingered. And peering down at the rippling mirrored surface, he slowly became aware of a strange creature looking up at him.
It had very long ears, a white noise and scary eyes with white rings around them!
Mokey leaped backwards and fled away just as fast as his little legs would carry him. The drumming of hooves and lod "eeyaws" caused such a commotion that Mervyn the mole scurried to the surface.
"What´s all the fuss about?" he enquired. But Mokey wasn´t about to stop and answer him.
Translation - Czech Matěj vypil tolik vody, až měl pocit, že mu praskne bříško.
Měl dlouhatánské uši, bílý nos a hrozivé oči uprostřed bílých kruhů!
English to Czech: Israel Hotels General field: Marketing Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Source text - English The year 2011 saw a dramatic increase in the number of visitors to Israel, even surpassing the levels achieved prior to the second Palestinian uprising. However, maintaining profitability was not easy as the shekel strengthened against the weakening dollar. The result was that many Israel hotels raised their dollar rates, so as to keep pace with the dollar's devaluation. This , of course, did not go down well with the American tourist, who is, nonetheless, aware of the effect his own currency has on the costs of any vacation abroad. In 2012, Israel hotels are expected to further raise their prices, which, together with the world economic slowdown, could be their downfall. Yes, Israel has the advantage of being a "must come" destination for Jewish tourists especially, but also for other Pilgrim groups. In short, make sure you reserve your Israel hotels early as room shortages are predicted for 2012. Many new hotels are however being built, especially luxury hotels in Jerusalem, and it's hoped that the supply will meet the demand.
Translation - Czech Rok 2011 znamenal dramatické zvýšení počtu návštěvníku Izraele, které předčilo dokonce i úroveň z dob před druhým palestinským povstáním.
I have been doing freelance translating and interpreting for 8 years .
I started after thorough studies of English and French language and theory of translation at Philosophical Faculty. I gained experience from various fields, translating texts such as Venice Art Guide , song lyrics, technical manuals, contracts and literature for children.
In addition to that, I was doing a lot of translation work also in my part-time job of Human Resources Assistant in a production company, translating the company's Monthly Updates, letters to employees and announcements of various kinds.
I've received an in-depth training in the field of subtitling and has completed five projects in that field.
My specialization is the field of travel and tourism (brochures, prospects, travel guides, web sites), literature for children and education (textbooks, psychological and personal growth books).
I have also gained a lot of experiences in interpreting , especially for missionary organizations and churches but also at different offices such as the Foreign Police, lawyer's or doctor's offices.
