Source text - English As for all Chi Neng® Qigong exercises, we work on three levels: physical, mental and energetic. The ‘physical’ movements of the Lift Chi Up and Pour Chi Down form are constructed in such a way that the body is constantly making mild stretching and extending movements. The whole body is ‘pulsating’, moving rhythmically, between relaxing and mild effort. This relaxes and extends muscles and tendons. All supporting tissues, the skin, the blood vessels, the meridians and organs are moved rhythmically and are being massaged. The blood and lymph circulation are being supported and harmonized, as well as the energy flow through the meridians. Waste products can be drained easier through blood and lymph streams. It has a calming, relaxing and detoxifying effect.
Translation - German Wie auch bei allen anderen Chi Neng ® Qigong Übungen arbeitet man auf drei Ebenen: körperlich, mental und energetisch. Die körperliche Bewegung des LCUs besteht aus kontinuierlichen, leichten Dehnübungen. Der ganze Körper ‚pulsiert’, bewegt sich rhythmisch zwischen Entspannung und leichter Anstrengung. Muskeln und Sehnen werden dadurch entspannt und gedehnt. Das Binde- und Stützgewebe, die Haut, die Blutgefäße, die Meridiane und inneren Organe werden rhythmisch bewegt und sanft massiert. Die Blut- und Lymphzirkulation werden gemeinsam mit dem Energiefluss durch die Meridiane gefördert und in Harmonie gebracht. Der Körper kann deshalb Schadstoffe effektiver durch den Blut- und Lymphkreislauf ausschwemmen. Die Übung hat eine beruhigende, entspannende und entgiftende Wirkung.

I was born and grew up in Hamburg, in the north of Germany. During my studies at Kiel University I spent a year as a foreign language assistant in Scotland and fell in love with the wittiness of the people and the beauty of the countryside. In 1997 I finally moved to a cosy little cottage situated in the hills north of Dundee. Ever since then I translated and interpreted for friends and acquaintances whenever the need arose. As I enjoyed this tremendously I decided to become a qualified translator. In 2005 I started working as a freelance translator and proofreader.
I hold university degrees in linguistics and German literature as well as in sports science. I am also a qualified German teacher and spend many hours coaching gymnastics in my free time.
My area of expertise is sport, recreation and healthy lifestyles. After my studies I started working in sports development and sports coaching, which allowed me to build up a sound understanding of a range of physical, social, developmental and psychological aspects of sport in its many facets. Since I started out as a freelancer I gained experience in the translation of dissertations, brochures and websites. Since February 2007 I have been translating television programmes covering the big yacht races around the world. Sailing has since become another area of expertise.
