OPERATION
Series DHO and DHO-BG Pinch Valves utilize a simple hand wheel operated, free floating dual pinch bar mechanism which closes or opens the full round elastomeric sleeve. The free floating mechanism permits even closure from both sides and the positive opening feature attached directly to the pinch bars, insures complete and even opening. Closure is bubble tight; over pinching is prevented by a positive closure stops on the stem.
STORAGE
Correct storage procedures can appreciably extend the service life of the valve. Most important to remember is that the rubber sleeve in the valve is perishable. While sleeves are stored at 50 °F at 60% relative humidity at the factory, field storage conditions are seldom optimum. Therefore, we recommend the following precautions for valves and spare sleeves which are to be stored for any length of time prior to installation.
1. Keep valves and spare sleeves as cool as possible. They can be safely stored in an unheated area, but allow maximum ventilation in storage areas subject to high ambient summer temperatures. Enclosed truck trailers, storage sheds, and the like can become incredibly hot during summer months. Avoid such locations.
2. Avoid sunlight. Ultra-violet light will accelerate the deterioration of rubber. Leave the valve in its box, if it was so packaged. If not feasible to box the valve, cover the sleeve with black plastic.
3. Avoid ozone. DO NOT STORE valve near active electrical equipment. If valve will be in storage for a long period, coat the face and inside the sleeve twice yearly with silicone spray or liquid.

ЭКСПЛУАТАЦИЯ
При вращении маховика пережимной механизм, состоящий из двух пластин, размещенных по обе стороны шланга, пережимает полнопроходной эластичный шланг круглого сечения. Пережимной механизм равномерно сжимает шланг с обеих сторон, а полное и равномерное разжатие шланга обеспечивается устройством принудительного открывания, прикрепленным непосредственно к пережимным пластинам. В закрытом положении шланг непроницаем для газа; чрезмерное сжатие предотвращается ограничителями принудительного закрывания, расположенными на штоке.
Хранение
При правильном хранении ресурс задвижки значительно повышается. Важно помнить, что характеристики резинового шланга со временем ухудшаются. В заводских условиях шланги хранятся при температуре 10 °C и относительной влажности 60%, однако на производстве такие оптимальные условия хранения часто не осуществимы. Ниже приводятся рекомендации по хранению задвижек и запасных шлангов в течение любого времени до монтажа.
1. Для хранения задвижек и запасных шлангов следует выбрать самое прохладное место. Это может быть неотапливаемое помещение с вентиляцией зон хранения, которые могут перегреваться в летнее время. Закрытые прицепы, навесы и подобные складские помещения не подходят для хранения, так как летом в них может быть очень жарко.
2. Не допускайте воздействия прямых солнечных лучей. Ультрафиолетовое излучение ускоряет старение резины. Храните задвижку в оригинальной упаковке. Если задвижка хранится без ящика, оберните шланг черной полиэтиленовой пленкой.
3. Не допускайте воздействия озона. Не храните задвижку вблизи работающего электрооборудования. При длительном хранении на внутреннюю и наружную поверхность шланга следует дважды в год наносить гидрофобизирующую кремнийорганическую жидкость.

Source text - English THE IMPORTANCE OF OVER-PRESSURE PROTECTION:
WHAT HAPPENED: A recent investigation into the rupture of a liquid nitrogen cargo tank—and the subsequent energy release—revealed that the pressure relief system for the inner tank had been altered. An aluminum “plug” had been installed in a pipe union located downstream of the diverter valve and upstream of the pressure relief devices (PRV and rupture disc). The diverter valve had been positioned in such a way that it “blocked” the active relief stream. This meant the cargo tank’s inner vessel had NO over-pressure protection. Although this did not directly cause the cargo tank to rupture, it definitely contributed to it and created a very dangerous operating condition.
The vaporization and expansion of a cryogenic liquid can cause significant pressure increase inside of an isolated container or piping.
Potential over-pressurization exists in any plant process, storage system, distribution equipment, or customer supply system.
Pressure relief devices are critical safety systems designed to protect the equipment from over-pressurization.
Any alteration of a pressure relief device may create stress that exceeds the equipment’s Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP). This could create overload stress and cause material failure.
Pressure relief devices are the last line of defense in the prevention of catastrophic type events from over-pressurization.
Never attempt—or allow anyone else to attempt—to insert a makeshift device or foreign object into a pressure release device or divert, reduce, or shut off the flow of gas into or out of the device.
If a pressure relief device is not functioning correctly, do not change the setting or adjust the device. Report it so it can be repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
