My name is Federica Mamini, I am a conference interpreter based in Brussels.
My mother tongue is Italian and my working languages are:
EN<>IT
ES>IT
FR>IT
I was born in Turin, Italy but I currently live in Brussels working both as an in-house interpreter for the European Community of Consumer Cooperatives and as a freelancer.
I graduate in Interpreting (MA with Merit) at London Metropolitan University where I lived for 3 years working freelance and improving my language and interpreting skills.
The course required taking part in international conferences organised each week with the aim of discussing current issues from politics to cooperation and European Union policies. Furthermore, my final research project consisted on a small-scale qualitative research on Intellectual Property Rights applied to the EU and the private market.
I have been working mainly in EU related fields, i.e. EU 2020 strategy goals, climate change, sustainability issues, food retail (GMOs, Nanotechnology, labelling, food supply chain etc.), consumer protection, EWCs, CAP, fisheries and so forth.
Moreover, I have a relevant experience as a freelance interpreter working for a specialised international attorney referral in the legal field, including antitrust and competition reviews, bankruptcy litigation, WTO disputes, and EU data protection.
Examples of clients: European Works Council, European University College Association, Italian Regions representation in Brussels, Il Fatto Quotidiano newspaper, RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana), European Parliament, European Commission.
Flexibility and time management to handle a variety of projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to take initiative and work in team or individually. Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiastic.
Member of ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting), IoL (Institute of Linguists), AIESEC, UNGIT (Unione Nazionale Giovani Interpreti e Traduttori), LANGIT (Newsletter for Italian Translator and Interpreters), Proz.com, TranslatorsCafè.com
I read international newspapers daily in order to be informed about current affairs both in the European Union and worldwide. If you are looking for good quality work, I am here to help you.
