I'm an American expat (born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts) residing the last few decades in Athens, Greece. My professional career revolves around Translation and Localization Project/Program Management and Technical Writing.
Regarding Translation and Software Localization, I've managed numerous Microsoft projects (Windows Millennium, Windows Vista, Office XP, Office 2003, Project 2003 & Project Server 2003, System Management Services 2003 etc.), as well as projects from Apple, IBM/Lotus, Adobe, Symantec, Oracle, Siemens etc.
In 2005 I participated in the EU-funded IGNITE consortium, representing Archetypon SA, along with Pass Engineering (makers of PASSOLO), VeriTest, Vivendi Games and the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) from the University of Limerick. IGNITE's function was to work out a model for Localisation 2.0, by designing processes and frameworks for the certification of tools and technologies that promoted industry standards.
I'm actively involved in helping out translators/localizers, especially with their translation software tools and daily business operation. A considerable effort in this area is pro bono.
As for Technical Writing, I've authored a fair share of technical documentation (User & System Manuals, White Papers, Tech Guides etc.) for diverse domains such as vertical software platforms, electronics, energy technology, civil engineering, telecommunications etc. I also have extensive experience in drafting EU/Public Sector Tender proposals.
My book "Translation 101: Starting Out As A Translator" is available on all major online retailers (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Lulu, iTunes Store, Smashwords, OverDrive etc.) in eBook and paperback format.
My app "Translation101 Toolkit" (MS Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux) is a tool for translators to calculate a translation project's weighted word count, target words and deadline feasibility. For more information and availability check http://translators-tech-help.com/translation101-toolkit-app/.
