Source text - English In our efforts to keep up with a language that is not our own, we sometimes forget to take care of our native language, something which is particularly important if you no longer live in your native country. Depending on your native language and the country you have moved to, you may have to go the extra mile to keep up with your native language.
It is probably easier for people whose native language is English or another major language, because they will always find ways to listen to their language, but it is much more difficult if your native language is rarely spoken outside of your native country. I can imagine, for example, that it is fairly easy for a native speaker of English to keep up their native language in my country, the Netherlands, because we have plenty of access to TV and radio channels, newspapers and magazines, journals and books in English. If, however, I would decide to move to the UK or the US, it would be a lot harder for me to find sources in Dutch.
Translation - Hindi किसी ऐसी भाषा को सीखने के प्रयास में हम अक्सर अपनी मातृभाषा की सुध लेना भूल जाते हैं। विशेषकर जब हम अपने देश में नहीं हों तब। आपकी मातृभाषा के साथ तारतम्य रखने के लिए आपको अतिरिक्त प्रयासों की आवश्यकता हो सकती है, जो कि इस बात पर निर्भर है कि आप किस देश में वर्त्तमान में रह रहे हैं तथा आपकी मातृभाषा क्या है? यह संभवतः उन लोगों के लिए आसान है जिनकी मातृभाषा अंग्रेजी या अन्य कोई बहुधा बोली जाने वाली भाषा हो. वे अपनी भाषा सुनने के कई तरीके अपना सकते हैं. किन्तु यदि आपकी मातृभाषा आपके अपने देश से बाहर नहीं बोली जाती है, तो आपके लिए यह करना बहुत कठिन होगा. मेरे लिए यह कल्पना करना आसान है. उदाहरण के लिए किसी अंग्रेजी भाषी के लिए मेरे देश नीदर्लेंड्स में अंग्रेजी सुनना तथा उसके साथ तारतम्य बनाये रखना प्रायः आसान है क्योंकि यहाँ उन्हें अंग्रेजी भाषा में टीवी तथा रेडियो चेनल्स, अखबार तथा पत्रिकाएं व जर्नल्स तथा किताबें आसानी से उपलब्ध हैं. किन्तु यदि मैं इंग्लैंड या अमेरिका में रहने के बारे में सोचूं तो मुझे वहां डच भाषा में इनकी उपलब्धता आसानी से नहीं होगी.
