If modern architecture began with KIM Chung Up and KIM Swoo Geun, you could say he’s a 2nd generation architect. Most 2nd generation architects think of architecture as a fetish.
They think it will solve everything and basically worship it. So they talk a lot and do a lot of social activities but they believe that architecture is different…that everything is possible. They think of mythical aspects or ideas of fetishism but CHUNG Guyon is less like that. He knows the limitations of architecture and doesn’t worship it. He tries to make life better through it. In worldly terms, he’s a minority. He has no school ties or genealogy. He wasn’t part of any big organization. He's somewhat of an outsider who started with art and then returned from France.
He showed by example for whom an architect should work. And what kind of tool architecture should be in a society.
