Bio
I am a native Chinese and have lived in both China and the United States of America (USA) for decades, and earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in China and Ph.D. in USA. I have a very good mastery of both Chinese (mandarin, simplified, traditional, and Cantonese) and English, and have been translating in this pair of languages my whole life for my education (through Ph.D.), work (scientific), and in my daily life. I have a doctoral in science and work experience in different fields for more than 40 years. I have expert knowledge in the earth and environmental science and technology and have published many books and articles of technical and scientific research both in Chinese and English. These expert knowledge and skills will benefit me in difficult, technical translations.

Work Experience:
In China, 1970 – 1985, teacher in high school and lecturer in university, taught courses of Chemistry, Soil and Agricultural Chemistry, and Crop Nutrition and Fertilization, etc. Conducted research in agriculture, fertilizer, and plant nutrient and published research papers.
In USA, 1985 – present, research associate and senior scientist in university and in state and county government agencies, and also an independent consultant. Worked in the fields of laboratory chemical analysis, agriculture, environment regulation and protection, ecosystems, geochemistry, soils, wetlands, waterways, drinking water production and wastewater treatment, etc. Writing research and technical papers, reports, applications, proposals, presentation materials is an important part of my job.

Translation Experience:
My first translation from English to Chinese, which was a research article, was published in生态译丛 33 years ago (in 1980). Since then I have been translating numerous articles and reference papers with this pair of languages for use in my education and work. Since 2013, I have joined some translation companies and become the Certified Translator of some companies. As a freelancer, I have translated many projects.
