Source text - French Si on lui donne couramment le nom de la déesse romaine de l’Amour, Vénus, il serait plus juste de la nommer Aphrodite. En effet, cette œuvre est grecque. Elle a été retrouvée en 1820 sur l’Île de Mélos, l’actuelle Milo, dans la mer Egée. Achetée par un ambassadeur français qui l’offre au roi Louis XVIII, elle est presque immédiatement cédée au musée du Louvre. Commentée, mais aussi dessinée par beaucoup d'artistes, la Vénus de Milo devient très célèbre.
La beauté de son visage, sa demi-nudité, ses formes généreuses révélées par le drapé, en font une œuvre empreinte de sensualité. Certains détails stylistiques comme son port altier, son visage harmonieux et son air impassible sont des héritages de la période classique du 4e siècle avant J.-C. La coiffure et le rendu très réaliste de la peau rappellent l’art du sculpteur grec Praxitèle. Elle lui fut même attribuée.
Pourtant, si son auteur demeure inconnu, on sait aujourd’hui que la Vénus de Milo date de la fin du 2e siècle avant J.-C. car elle présente des caractéristiques propres à l’époque hellénistique : son torse allongé, sa posture hélicoïdale, c’est-à-dire en rotation, le traitement réaliste des chairs et des modelés, les jeux d’ombres et de lumière du drapé qui glisse de ses hanches.
Quant aux célèbres bras disparus, les hypothèses sont nombreuses quant à leur position, mais le mystère demeure…

Currently working for the Louvre Museum as translator and copy editor in Chinese, I graduated firstly from The Chinese University of Hong Kong on MBA, then from Paris Sorbonne University on Art History . I have taken the opportunity during the last year of my studies to do an internship at the Guimet Museum under the direction of Michel Maucuer - Chief Curator of the Japan section.
I have developed various skills through my training and my professional experience. In addition to my background in art history, I have also a strong experience in the fields of marketing, communication and digital. I have indeed worked in these different areas in Hong Kong for thirteen years in the MTR Corporation Limited, especially in the field of communication. My collaboration with various partners (artists, professionals in the luxury and fashion industries, corporations and enterprises, community organisations, press, advertising agencies, etc.) has strengthen my relations with the media and my skills in writing and communication (both traditional and digital communication).
