Translation - English Introduction
Introducing Alexander Grothendieck to mathematicians would be redundant: he is no less than one of the greatest scientists of the 20th century.
To a less informed audience one needs to explain that the character should not be confined to a somewhat controversial reputation, namely that of a man at odds with the world, committing what could be called the suicide of his own work or rather, knowingly shattering his Scientific school when it had been instantly accepted with enthusiasm and later developped by top ranking collaborators and continuators.
Grothendieck’s personal journey? A childhood devastated by Nazism and its crimes, a father absent early on who later disappeared in turmoil ; a mother who kept him in her fold, marring his relationship to women for a long time.
He counteracted all this by a rabid involvement in mathematical abstraction before Psychosis, kept at a distance by that same involvement caught up with him, overwhelming him with Death anxiety.
Grothendieck topology is incredibly complex. Like Gauss, Riemann and many other mathematicians, he was obsessed with the notion of space. But Grothendieck was innovative in that he went further into the concept of geometric points. Futile as it may have seemed, any such research harboured however, significant metaphysical stakes and the philosophical issues related to it are, even today, still far from being exhausted.
The ultimate aspect of this research, one of which Grothendieck was the most proud, revolved around the notion of « Motives », seen as a beacon that enlightens all incarnations of the same object through various ephemeral appearances. But this concept also epitomizes the state of incompleteness of his work that lead to a breach. Nevertheless, being non-conformist prompted him to fully acknowledge this crack, when most scientists are generally anxious to erase their footprints in the sand, to silence their fantasies and dreams and erect their "Statue within" - in the words of François Jacob.
From the self-imposed retirement he’s been in since 1990, Grothendieck sent us a voluminous introspection: Récoltes et Semailles (Reaping and Sowing). Although his life has garnered morbid curiosity from a certain audience, here I shall stick to an analysis as rational and honest as possible of his work, before letting it illuminate from within the prodigious enterprise of a man that was no less exceptional.

Source text - English Previous Evaluations:
X was evaluated in June 2014 by his ergothérapeute. On specific NEPSY testing X performed poorly on the arrows and on the block subtests. The ergothérapeute suggested an ortho-optic evaluation. Otherwise, visual motor precision was good. His hand placement was good and his tapping was on the low side of average. His ability to copy fingers was also good.
X was then evaluated by an orthoptist (July 2014). The results of the evaluation, as well as specific conversation with the specialist, reveal the following information:
X’s eyes are aligned and there is no strabismus. However he does have trouble focusing his two eyes on to a point or tracking something moving. In his depth perception, X can see substantial depth but he has trouble with moderate depth perception. Altogether X has visual difficulties that could cause spatial problems. The difficulty that his eye have in working together could be responsible for his spatial and motor difficulties.
If he is having reading difficulties, he could attend some eye 're-éducation' sessions to improve his reading. It does appear that X would have trouble looking from the board to his notebook in class, such as in taking notes (this is the area called ‘vergences’ in the evaluation), as he does have trouble shifting his focus from far to near.
