French to English: Une découverte authentique General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Translation - English A genuine discovery
A trip to Mongolia promises a complete change in scenery, as both the view of the world and life here is unique and surprising. On the journey between the capital and Orkhon, you encounter fascinating animals such as the yak, whose grunt is reminiscent of snoring. Then, in the middle of a steppe tinted with shades of green, a desert suddenly emerges, like the Bayan-Gobi, where you cross paths with camels.
After many hours spent on an extremely uncomfortable bus ride, as well as an epic adventure braving the elements in an off-road jeep, the end of the journey is finally apparent, as the ger encampment not far from the Orkhon waterfalls comes into view. With landscapes of various shades, between steppe and hills, Orkhon offers scenic views that vary between pleasant and rugged. The gers, small white dashes on a verdant steppe, blend in perfectly at the site. Impenetrable cocoons, the gers offer extraordinary protection against the elements and the cold. The stove, at the centre of the ger, must be maintained, as even in summer the days (and particularly the nights) can be cold.
Translation - English Does the development of programmatic have to spell the end for creativity?
Increasing numbers of advertising spaces are being bought and sold on programmatic purchasing platforms. These platforms are enabling the marketing processes of advertising spaces to become more automated, as well as meeting supply and demand in real-time. According to a study by Magna Global titled 'Programmatic Intelligence Report', global spending on programmatic in 2015 increased to 12.7 billion euros, of which 3.5 billion was spent on mobile programmatic. Also in 2015, UK investments in mobile programmatic represented 25% of the total spending on programmatic. By 2019, the share of global investments in mobile programmatic should catch up with investments in 'desktop' programmatic. However, while advertisers are using programmatic more and more to drive their advertising campaigns, according to a study by IAB UK, only 56% of UK advertisers and media agencies are considering getting to grips with this purchasing method. In light of this information, it is important to develop the skills to be able to take full advantage of the benefits that programmatic offers, all while delivering creative advertising campaigns that meet the expectations of the consumer.
The immediacy of programmatic provides numerous opportunities. Thanks to real-time access to advertising campaign results, the buyer can adjust their strategy to adapt to the results almost in real-time. The advertiser therefore has leverage, allowing them to optimise the conversion rate of their campaign.
Whilst we can only applaud the rapid progression of this new purchasing method, we should also, however, discuss its drawbacks. In the search for volume and the automation of advertising campaigns, the development of programmatic purchasing is often accompanied by a shortage in advertising creativity. Yet despite the most effective targeting technologies, the only interaction the end user has with advertising is the advertisements themselves, as it is displayed on their device. The possibilities offered by technology have too often lost sight of this obvious statement.
Too many people seeking quick results still use these platforms to reach out to the biggest possible audience, with formats that are too standardised and sanitised, lacking real added-value and that are even sometimes too intrusive. Too often the content delivered to mobiles is ill-suited to the size of the screen or editor page it is displayed on, and more importantly, ill-suited to the user experience on the most personal devices. The time has come for a change in behaviour. We must get the most out of the creative potential offered by mobile phones (rich media, video, accelerometer, camera, couponing, geolocation) in order to provide users with formats that prioritise the overall experience.
To develop, since the very beginning programmatic has needed to standardise formats. It is time to move on to the second phase of development, in which programmatic no longer necessarily means basic formats, or else users will get frustrated with their experience of advertising on mobile phones and the adblocker phenomenon will become widespread.

Ensuring every person with a disability can live independently.
Objectives
Onafhankelijk Leven asbl is a social movement that is ensuring an increasing number of disabled people can live a normal life and find a place in society. The non-profit organisation encourages the use of personal assistance, freely chosen by the disabled person, so they do not have to be dependent on the good will of family, friends or other social organisations. 30 years ago, when the organisation issued a call for personal assistance, it was a unique and innovative concept. Now, it is a right that is regulated by law, which 3,000 people benefit from. In the future, thousands of new beneficiaries will be able to make use of the system developed by Onafhankelijk Leven. The nonprofit organisation is completely independent and is pursuing its objective of serving, informing, advising and guiding disabled people so that they can participate in society.
Activities
• Advice service: Onafhankelijk Leven asbl offers advice on using the personal assistance budget over the telephone, or in the form of advisors who visit the homes of those benefitting from this budget in Flanders.
• Volunteering and raising awareness:
o As a social movement, the organisation is raising awareness in the political world and in the public domain via campaigns and practical action. The issues linked to the independence of disabled people are raised and debated in the presence of politicians, and solutions are put forward together. This work is carried out entirely by teams of volunteers.
o The organisation is proposing training sessions to introduce the general public to the ideas promoted by the nonprofit and to reinforce the capabilities of disabled people. More information on these sessions can be found at http://www.onafhankelijkleven.be/vorming.
Concrete Needs 2015
Financial support for:
• Training teams of volunteers
• Understanding the alteration in the method of financing the disability sector, initiated at the start of 2015. From 2020, the budget will no longer be transferred to the care services, but directly to the disabled person instead. In preparation of this important change, Onafhankelijk Leven must invest heavily in its facilities and the training of its staff. This change requires a professional approach to the communication strategy and financial support.
Volunteer work in Belgium:
• Logistical support
• Organisation, information, awareness
• Translations: French, English and Dutch
• Contributions to the voluntary newspaper ‘Onafhankelijk LeZen’
